Rules

X-TREMEICE reserves the right to modify or change event particulars should the necessity arise.
OFFICIAL X-TREMEICE TOURNAMENT RULES

1. All contestants must be willing to submit to a "lie detector test" if deemed necessary by tournament officials as appears on rules meeting waiver form.

2. Teams will consist of 2 fishers.....if a child is a partner, a guardians "written approval" is required by their legal guardian.

3. During contest hours at no time shall teammates be separated by a distance exceeding 15 paces or 45 feet. If a minor adjustment is necessary it is understandable , should an official approach you, complying with the request will be mandatory.....in the event of a flagrant violation.............DISQUALIFICATION WILL RESULT.

4. No Team shall "infringe" on another teams area, which is interpreted as being closer than ten feet from them.....even if the other team "consents" to the other team being closer than the rule stipulates.

5. "Portable fish houses" and "exposed to the elements" fishing are the only methods allowed to fish the event. Permanent houses are "off limits" and a 10' radius of any permanent must be maintained at all times. A portable is defined as a towable, flip style or cabin style shelter that folds into a low profile towable shelter that is removed daily including the pre-fishing periods that lead up to the tournament.

6. HOLE BLOCKING is strictly prohibited. Permanent shacks moved just prior to an event will be flagged and that area "off limits" to any team wishing to fish that spot directly where the permanent was stationed. This will be watched very closely. If a situation arises where hole blocking is suspected, that area will be flagged and possible Disqualification may result depending on circumstances. If you block an area with equipment a contestant may request through an official that it be moved in the event the owner of equipment is not using the area that another contestant would like to fish.

7. There will be a set up period of approximately 30 minutes prior to fishing at the start of an event. The event will start when signals are relayed to the field to begin fishing. During the "set-up" time, holes may be drilled, shaks positioned but not occupied and fishing poles are not to be handled other than to remove from protective cases. Fishers must be visible prior to the event start.

8.In the event that ice is adequate and deemed safe for motorized towing and travel.....ATV's, snowmobiles, and open electric carts such as a golf cart....... will be allowed to navigate the ice during the event, obviously walking is also allowed. Cars, trucks, SUV's or any enclosed vehicle is prohibited and contact in or against them once out on the ice, is strictly forbidden during the event hours. Safe ice will be determined by the tournament director and staff prior to an event and will be clearly noted at the rules meeting.

9. A "THOROUGH" equipment inspection will take place before releasing units the morning of the event, which will be a physical inspection of all equipment. Portable shaks will be in an upright position or easily done so as inspection teams approach you for inspection. This also may include a request for "jackets" to be opened and or taken off for physical inspection as well. Once your "inspection" is complete, NO "direct" CONTACT or EXCHANGES with other teams are allowed {NO EXCEPTIONS}. This rule needs to be read again. Disqualifications will occur should this happen.

10. It is your responsibility to have your team number shak I.D. tags with you that we provide....... as you enter the launch area as well as any other items and equipment you will need to fish the event. No person[s] shall be allowed to return to their vehicles to retrieve items once Inspection has occurred. Have a checklist with you and make sure you have everything you need prior to entering the inspection line. Medical emergency situations need to be brought to tournament staff attention such as {medication needs} for example.

11. A strictly enforced speed limit will be enforced of 15 mph when traveling the ice, prior, during and post tournament hours....including traveling to the weigh in line. Immediate disqualification will occur for fast or unsafe operation. LAUNCH "PACE VEHICLES" will be utilized.

12. Fish kept in your possession become part of your daily bag immediately upon deciding to place it in your pail with water in it which is required to keep fish fresh and lively as possible during the event. Wisconsin possession limits and all Wisconsin rules and regulations apply. HOWEVER, upon approaching the weigh in area, fish to be weighed must already be sorted and contained in a 5 gallon bucket of water and your fish to be weighed for "big fish" to be utilized as a "TIE BREAKER" should that occur must be the first fish chosen to be weighed by officials {Marking this fish when sorting prior to the weigh in area with a clip or device} will allow you to quickly identify the fish and allow for a smooth weigh in {WE will not wait for you to choose a fish at weigh in time}. Maximizing fish liveliness or freshness in appearance will be watched closely and it is your responsibility to keep your fish as lively or fresh appearing as possible. Once in the "weigh in line" it is strictly prohibited to handle your catch or to allow any individual access to your catch until you reach the weigh in table. Immediate disqualification will result should this be observed by an official.

13. You may NOT use other teams equipment in the event of mechanical failure, such as an auger malfunction. Make sure you have two or that yours is reliable, the same applies to electronics or any other device once tournament hours have begun which is at the time of your inspection completion.

14. Two lines per person will be allowed. A contestant may NOT stop fishing and allow his partner to fish a third line as Wisconsin law permits. 2 lines per contestant are allowed under tournament rules. should a spot inspection occur and three lines are being used by a single competitor, Disqualification will occur.

15. Electronic communication is allowed, 2 way radios, cell phones etc. are allowed during the tournament hours.

16. All portables being towed must have a solid towing hitch or protective PVC sleeve over exposed rope between vehicle and portable to create a "rigid" tow bar.
The portable shak may be carried on a racking system also. No exposed rope towing will be allowed with the exception of walkers for safety reasons.

17. Being late in arriving at tournament established boundary cones and times for weigh in will also result in immediate DISQUALIFICATION under no circumstances will other parties provide transportation to late arrivals to avoid disqualification. Emergency medical situations will be exceptions as those situations present themselves and necessary transporting will be provided by officials!

18. No contestant may leave the ice surface during the event hours. If for one reason or another a team member needs to return to tournament headquarters, both members must do so together. At all times teams must travel together when relocating or entering and exiting tournament boundaries.

19. ALL PREFISHING for the EVENT will "CEASE" at 5p.m. on Saturday afternoon at 5p.m. prior to Sundays event. Tournament Officials will take shifts from 5p.m. saturday until Sunday morning of the EVENTS start.

20. Late arrivals must wait at the launch area to undergo a "complete Inspection" and then be released to fish An "official" will be present to assist you in the event you have unfortunate circumstanes which cause a late arrival. If you enter the "tournament area and have not been inspected......a disqualification will result..

*** This will give you a good guideline to start familiarizing yourselves with the rules.....there will be no exceptions to rule infractions. If followed properly there will be minimal if any problems. Should a questionable occurrence happen during an event, do not wait until after the event. Notify an "official' immediately so the problem can be dealt with and an interpretation rendered immediately to resolve the problem
